It’s not as easy to circumnavigate a poor user interface combined with an almost non-existent level of support. You need a bit of help. One such challenge is changing your Spotify country. But don’t worry, we’re going to explain everything you need to know. Keep reading to find out more.
What Type of Spotify Account Do You have?
The way to change your country on Spotify varies depending on whether you have a free or a premium account.
Free Account
If you have a free Spotify account, you can listen to music when you’re in a different country for up to 14 days. Thereafter, you will need to return to your home country or make a new account in your new locale.
To listen for the 14 days, you need to change the appropriate setting.
To make the change, log into your Spotify account on a web browser and go to Edit Profile > Country. You can select your country from a dropdown list. The country will only be visible if you’re physically there.
Premium Account
If you have a premium account, you do not need to change your country while traveling. You are not subject to the same 14-day restriction as a free account.
If you’re moving permanently, however, you will need to update your details.
To update your details, log into your Spotify account page and go to Subscription > Update. You will need to enter your new payment details. The payment details must be linked to a financial institution in your new country.
If you have a free account, you should consider upgrading to Spotify Premium. Sure it costs money, but for many users, that’s money well spent.
